Happy Monday you guys! Over the last year, I’ve made it a goal to live a “cleaner,” healthier lifestyle by eating a whole foods plant based diet & ditching & switching the products in my home to reduce chemicals & toxins 🙂 I don’t know a lot of women who look at the ingredients in their cosmetics, I used to be someone who walked into the drugstore without giving it a second thought, but to provide some education: The U.S. has not passed a federal law governing the cosmetics industry since 1938. (Ahem—that’s over 80 years.) The European Union has banned or restricted 1,400 ingredients from personal-care products, The United States has banned or restricted only 30.. aka you should be concerned. The average women puts over 100 different harmful chemicals on her body every day.. before she even leaves the house. Think about your hair products, body wash, body lotion, skincare products, make up etc. It’s truly terrifying.
What should you watch out for?
- Formaldehyde-Releasing Preservatives
Just to name a few. These ingredients wreak havoc on your nervous system, endocrine system & are known carcinogens.
You can read more about the harmful effects of ingredients in your cosmetics here!
Once I had learned the harm that my products were causing, I slowly have made the switch to better products that don’t hurt my health! One of my favorite non-toxic drugstore brands is by W3ll People. They are vegan, plant based, clean, EWG verified AND affordable! I’ve been using them for about a year & haven’t looked back.
During the week I’ll throw on some mascara, fill my brows, add a little bronzer & go!
But if I’m going for a full face I’ll use the list of products below!
I personally love keeping a minimal, natural look 🙂
I start with dusting on foundation then doing my eyeshadow, mascara, brows & finish with bronzer & highlight!
Bio Based Baked Foundation in Medium Neutral
Bio Based Baked Bronzer
Bio Brightener Baked Highlight Powder
Nudist Eyeshadow Palette 1
Expressionist Volumizing Mascara
Expressionist Bro Gel
Non-toxic beauty does not need to be expensive! I recommend slowly switching out your products as you run out of them 🙂
Check ingredients on your shampoos, body lotions, etc! You’ll be surprised at what you find!
